SKILLS & JOBS CENTRE

Our Skills and Jobs Centre is a one-stop-shop for anyone seeking to explore tertiary studies, training, job and career options.

Our trained staff will provide you with one-on-one ongoing support to guide you through the job search and training process.

We can help you to answer questions such as:

Do I need training?
Careers advice and counselling.
Where do I start to look for a new job?
What type of job may be good for me?

We offer free workshops offered online and in person each month.

INDIGENOUS EDUCATION CENTRE

The Indigenous Education Centre (IEC) plays an important role in supporting our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The IEC provides a welcoming environment, where students can receive assistance and advice to find a TAFE course that suits them, receive assistance when getting enrolled and starting their training.

Indigenous students receive cultural, social and study support at the Learning Centre including:

provision of study space
provision of computers
mentoring
tutoring
counselling
individual support on an as needs basis

NEXT STEP

Finding the right course or career path can feel overwhelming and confusing.

NEXT STEP has helped hundreds of young people to choose the right education, training and pathways for them.

The service is offered to young people aged between 15 and 24 that need help finding their feet and figuring our their NEXT STEP.

EMPLOYMENT CENTRE

Our Employment Centre is specifically dedicated to assisting Kangan Institute students in understanding and developing their employability skills and helping them find meaningful and sustainable employment.

This service is also extended to employers looking to find extra hands or employ an apprentice.

Over 1,000 employers advertise vacancies with the Employment Centre each year and we have a strong track record in successfully placing our students into meaningful employment.

RECONNECT

The Reconnect program provides support to early school leavers and other high needs learners to overcome the barriers they face to re-engage and succeed in education and training.

Once eligibility has been confirmed, participants can expect to:

Have their learning and non-learning needs and career goals assessed, and an agreed learning plan developed
Receive support to commence and stay in vocational education and training
Receive ongoing support as they transition to employment or further training
Receive some brokerage assistance towards education related expenses
